A lot depends on Carey 'What Me Worry' Price.

A lot depends on Carey ‘What Me Worry’ Price.

Okay it was a brutal way to lose. You’re up 3-1 half-way through the third, you gotta win that game. Simple as that. And I’d be very, very worried about the fact that you’ve given up two goal leads in the third twice in the last two games. Three Bruin goals in 5:32. Just not acceptable. End result – 5-3 for the Bad Guys. To add insult to injury, Milan ‘Not a Nice Guy’ Lucic potted an empty-netter.

So yeah, a soul-destroying loss. Rips your heart out.

But so what. That’s life and that’s hockey. You get back up, dust yourself off and get ready for game three Tuesday in Montreal. It’s 1-1 and let’s face it, before the series, you would’ve happily taken a split of the games in Boston if that was what had been offered. Plus remember what happened the last time we came out of Boston with a 2-0 lead – the Habs lost that series in seven.

So it’s not the end of the world. Ginette Reno will presumably be there Tuesday, the Bell Centre faithful will be losing their collective nut, and the team can feed on that energy. But a few things need to happen if the Canadiens still hope to make it beyond the Bruins.

First-off, the best players have to be the best players. Thomas Vanek scored two goals Saturday – two tip-ins – but he didn’t play a good game. He has to be way better. He has to be in the game. Same with Max Pacioretty. He has to play with more fire. Maybe it’s time to give Brandon Prust a night off and roll the dice with Ryan White. I like the idea of White in the Bruins series and Prust is not playing at his usual Prusty level.

And for heaven’s sake, don’t sit back on a lead in the third period against these Bruins. You’ve done it twice and the first time, you got lucky. Do it again and the series is over.

Nobody said it was going to be easy. Oh yeah and the Miracle Man is set to resurrect himself again on Tuesday. I just know it. Miracle Man Bourque that is.

Carey ‘What Me Worry’ Price is playing the best hockey of his young life and he’s giving his team a chance to beat the best team in the League. So don’t blow it guys.
