Hockey day in the west end

Posted: February 9, 2013 in Uncategorized

Great day. Started with my son’s Pee Wee team playing a game at 9:30 at an outdoor tournament in Cote St. Luc. Missing a coach, I was recruited to open the door for the D-men. Keane’s team lost but it was a good game even if my toes are still frozen almost 12 hours later.

Then it was a break from hockey. I did a little preparation and then headed down to Radio-Canada to take part in our regular Saturday afternoon film-critic panel on Bouillon de culture on La Premiere Chaine, alongside Marc Cassivi and Marc-Andre Lussier. As always, a blast.

Then it was off to Girouard Park for a couple of hours of pick-up hockey under ideal conditions – not too cold, full sun, great ice. No kidding here – it was one of the best pick-up games I’ve ever taken part in. For more on the game, read next Saturday’s Gazoo.

And now I’m watching the Leafs-Habs game. Kind of perfect (other than, at this point in the first period, the Habs are sucking out the house in a way that’s oh-so 2011-2012 Habs).

Maybe I should turn off the TV and go back to Girouard Park.
