Predictions for the Kings Devils series

Posted: June 1, 2012 in Uncategorized

After the 82 regular season games and three rounds of the playoffs, we are finally in the 2012 Stanley Cup Final between the Los Angeles Kings and the New Jersey Devils. The Kings came out with a win in New Jersey in Game 1 of the series, 2 to 1 in overtime. Anze Kopitar scored the game winner in OT with a very nice move while beating Devils veteran goaltender Martin Brodeur. To be honest, I did not think that the Kings would make the final and the same for the Devils. But I did think that Phoenix and New York would go pretty far in these playoffs.

The Devils finished the season in 6th place, behind Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. The Devils won their first series versus the Florida Panthers, in a Game 7 overtime, with Adam Henrique scoring the game winner. In the second round, the Devils beat Claude Giroux and the Philadelphia Flyers in 6 games. And finally to make it to the Stanley Cup Final, they beat the number 1 seed New York Rangers in 7 games, once again in overtime, with guess who getting the game winner – Adam Henrique once again, just like in the first round. And now the Devils are down 1 game to none in this series versus the Los Angeles Kings.

The Kings finished in 8th, just a bit worse than the Devils. Unexpectedly, in the first round, the Kings knocked out the 1st place Vancouver Canucks in 5 games! In the second round, the Kings faced off with the second seed in the Western Conference, the St-Louis Blues. And once again the Kings knocked them out, this time in a 4-game sweep. Finally in the Western Conference Final, the Kings knocked out Phoenix in 5 games to make it to the final. They are now leading the series 1-0 vs the Devils.

I think that the Kings will wrap this series up to win the Stanley Cup in 5 games because of all their fire power such as Dustin Penner and Dustin Brown, goaltender, Jonathan Quick, Jeff Carter, Mike Richards, Drew Doughty and so on.
