I figure this might be of some use to the Habs…..and to Habs fans. Obviously the team – and the fans – have to do whatever it takes to make the playoffs.

So in that spirit, here’s the set list for my son Keane’s pre-hockey-game home-tape – okay it’s a CD but you get the idea!

1. MTL Stand Up – Annakin Slayd

2. Train in Vain – The Clash

3. Pump It Up – Elvis Costello

4. Mixed Emotions – The Rolling Stones

5. Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting) – The Who

6. The Hockey Song – Stompin’ Tom Connors

7. Fifty-Mission Cap – The Tragically Hip

8. Forget You – Cee Lo Green

9. Jet – Paul McCartney & Wings

10. Dream On – Aerosmith

11. 25 (Feels Like ’93) – Annakin Slayd

12. You Make My Dreams – Hall & Oates

13. Rock’nRoll Part 2 – The Glitter Band

14. Paradise City – Guns N’ Roses

15. Sweet Child O’ Mine – Guns N’ Roses

16. Cruel to be Kind – Nick Lowe

17. The Safety Dance – Men Without Hats

18. Beds Are Burning – Midnight Oil

We used to always just have one song we played on the way to games. One season it was Saturday Night. Another it was Start Me Up. Lately it’s been Train in Vain. So we figured we’d put them all on one disc. (Somehow Start Me Up got switched to the much-better Mixed Emotions!)

The best thing about the collection? No U2! Come to think of it, maybe that’s the source of all of the Habs’ woes. It isn’t Gomer. It’s having to hear Bono all the time at the Bell Centre. Also note how open-minded we are – we have even included a Leafs-themed song, Fifty-Mission Cap!

And yeah it’s proudly old-school. You got a problem with that pal???
