Who’s afraid of the big bad Boston Bruins? Not the Habs.

I’m not surprised that all the “pundits” in Toronto are calling for the Boston Bruins to easily send the Montreal Canadiens to the golf green but what’s a little more disturbing is that even most of the folks in the franco media here seem to be pretty certain that Jacques Martin and his merry men will be on summer holidays pretty soon.

I just don’t understand why everyone is taking such a half-empty take on the Habs’ chances in this series. Montreal won the season series. They only lost when the Bruins went all thuggish on them in Boston and then collapsed in the game back in Beantown following the Zdeno Chara hit on Max Pacioretty.

I’m not saying it’s a slam-dunk that our Habs will win it. But they have as good a shot at it as the Bruins. Carey Price is going to have to be great but he has been all year. And the Canadiens main men gotta step up their game – folks like Michael Cammalleri, Brian Gionta, Hal Gill and, especially, Scott Gomez, who is coming off a brutal season. P.K. Subban will be amazing, that we know. But Pricey and P.K. can’t do it on their own.

My prediction? Glad you asked. Habs in seven.

Don’t believe in the Habs magic? Check out the highlights of our game seven victory over the Washington Capitals in the first round last year. And remember everyone was saying it was gonna be Caps in three.
