P.J. Stock, Don Cherry say Habs will lose to Bruins

In a surprising turn of events – NOT! – Hockey Night in Canada commentators P.J. Stock and Don Cherry are picking the Boston Bruins to beat the Montreal Canadiens in the first-round National Hockey League Eastern Conference match-up.
Click here for piece in which Grapes says the Bruins will prevail and click here for blog from Stock saying that “I like the B’s to win because I like their commercials more.” (Drum roll please, start laughing now.)

Thus begins another Boston-Montreal series on Hockey Night in Canada, Canada’s premiere hockey broadcast which, oddly enough, is just chock full of major-league Bruins boosters and Habs dissers. After the Canadiens beat the Toronto Maple Leafs Saturday night, you might well have expected a bit of discussion of the Habs’ prospects in the playoffs. But no! Instead Cherry and his partner Ron Maclean chatted at length about what would likely happen with the golf-course-bound Leafs…..next season.

Sigh. I wish there was another option but frankly I’m not much more of a fan of the chatter on RDS.

Here is the Coach’s Corner segment from a few week’s back when Cherry discusses the infamous Zdeno Chara hit on Max Pacioretty.
